Real Estate During Divorce in Georgia and Alabama

When a home is part of a divorce, both people need the same facts: what the home is worth, what it would net after a sale, and what a buyout would cost. My role is to give both parties and their attorneys clear numbers and steady, documented communication. I don't give legal advice, and I don't take sides on legal questions.

How I work

  • A neutral pricing opinion shared with both parties, or with counsel if you prefer.
  • Sale versus buyout net sheets.
  • A written plan for showings, access and who approves what.
  • Offers sent to both parties at the same time.
  • Coordination with each attorney and the closing attorney.

Your consultation is confidential. Nothing you share is posted or used as an example without your written permission.

Court orders can limit what you can do (ask your attorney)

Georgia: courts can issue standing orders in domestic relations cases. In Hall and Dawson Counties, the Northeastern Judicial Circuit's Domestic Relations Standing Order applies to cases filed on or after March 1, 2025; other circuits have their own. Standing orders can limit what either party may do with property while a case is open. Read yours before listing.

Alabama: while a divorce case is open, an Alabama court can enter temporary orders that affect who lives in the home, who pays for it, and whether it can be sold. Ask your attorney what applies in your case before listing.
